About Us!
Gellite Candles started in 2001 as a simple thought. I had visited the Mall of
America and purchased a small gel candle that had a simple seascape design. It
was an attractive candle, but as you can see, it really didn't burn very well.
Later that year, I bought a gel candle kit from a local craft store for my 5
year old daughter Amanda. We worked on it together and after we had finished,
she turned to me and said, "We should start a business making gel candles." My
husband Jim and I had always wanted to find some kind of product that we could
make at home and sell through local craft shows and church bazaars and gel
candles looked like they would work out perfectly for us.
She struck a match and, as they say, the rest is history. We began
experimenting with various designs and learning the best and safest ways how to
make a gel candle. And believe me, there are a lot of ways and information
posted out there on the internet on how to make gel candles. Some of them go
from just being wrong to being outright dangerous. After many long hours and
literally hundreds of pounds of fragrance oils that didn't work, we worked out
the process so that we were able to launch our original website. That website
attracted a number of customers and lead to us providing all of the products
for a full 1,000 square foot gel candle store.
Needless to say, producing enough gel candles to fill a 1,000 square foot gel
candle shop, requires a little more space than your kitchen. With the initial
order, we were pouring candles in the kitchen, cooling in the eating area,
shelling in the dining room and packing in the living room. Having two young
kids in that situation just wasn't going to last too long so we moved into a
local warehouse space and really started cranking up production. After two
additional expansions and the availability of more space, we are fully prepared
for any orders that come our way and can easily produce any size order from 1
to 10,000 all with consistent quality and in a quick turnaround.
As you look around the website, you will see that we offer a wide variety of
gel candle designs with more on the way. Each candle is hand crafted using the
finest ingredients available and have been thoroughly tested to ensure both
quality and safety and when you follow the burning
instructions, our candles are not only long burning, but will burn clean as
well.
